The Calgary Stampede is one of the most popular times of year to visit the province of Alberta. With this in mind, it would be a shame for you to arrive decked out in denim and suede unprepared.

1. Book Accommodation Way Ahead
As millions flock to the region to take part in this 2-week event, you can imagine the strain on lodging resources. Book early to ensure you are able to stay nearby. 2. Book Tickets in Advance for the Professional Rodeo Performance You Wish to Attend
This event is the signature extravaganza of the entire festival! The last thing you want to do is miss out or be stuck with lousy seats from not booking in advance. There are several performances throughout the event but tickets sell out very quickly. Don’t settle for ordinary seats or missing the event. Reserve as soon as possible!
3. Dust off your boots and cap!
Get into the spirit of the event and dress the part! Most attendees sport their Stetsons, stir-ups, boots, and jackets and let their inner cowboy come through. Be sure to pack your Western garb in your suitcase as it is quite the thing to do here at the stampede. You will blend in just perfectly. 5. Plan Ahead with Spending Money
The box offices for show tickets and concerts all take major credit cards, traveller’s cheques, debit, and cash. Prepare beforehand and withdraw cash before heading to the festival. ATMs will be onsite but do come with hefty bank fees. If you withdraw your desired cash at a bank instead, you will avoid wasting money on the price of convenience. USD will be accepted on the Stampede grounds, though exchange rates will vary.
6. Plan for Weather Conditions
Being in July, the Calgary Stampede takes place at one of the nicest times of year in Calgary for weather. Average temperatures are 23-26 Celsius. Bring a light jacket or sweater for evenings, with sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for the daytime.
7. Car Rentals & Parking
Need a car while in Calgary? Make sure you book early to avoid disappointment. With over a million visitors arriving during the festival, you can only imagine how clogged the lots will be as well. There is parking available at the Stampede but very few spaces available. It is highly recommended to take the public transit, taxis, or Uber.
