Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is one of Canada's busiest airports. As Montreal's other international airport is solely used for cargo, YUL is currently the only option for air travel into the city. The airport is located about 20 km from downtown Montreal.
Trudeau Airport consists of one passenger terminal with four floors. Arrivals are on the ground floor, where there is a separate section for domestic, U.S., and international arrivals. Baggage claim and ground transportation links can also be found on the ground floor. You'll find taxis waiting just outside of the terminal. They offer a fixed rate of $40 CAD for rides from the airport to downtown Montreal. Rides to all other spots in the city are subject to a $17 CAD minimum fare.
Other ground transportation options include Uber, public transportation busses, and rental cars. Uber drivers are permitted to pick up passengers at Door 6 on the departures level. Busses also pick up directly at the airport and are the most budget-friendly transportation option. If you'll be travelling throughout the city, you can get an all-day bus pass for just $10 CAD. From the airport to downtown Montreal, the bus ride will be about an hour. Busses run 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Car rental is the best option for those spending a lot of time in the city. Companies like Budget and Enterprise all have service counters directly at the airport. You can book at the airport or book free in advance with Skyscanner to ensure availability.
