Located in Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is the country's busiest airport. The airport is located about 12 km from downtown Edinburgh or a 25-35 minute ride by car.
Edinburgh Airport consists of one terminal with 23 gates. The top three destinations from Edinburgh are all within London, with London Gatwick Airport coming in third. Direct flights from Edinburgh to London Gatwick are available via British Airways and easyJet. Aer Lingus and Norwegian also fly this route but have no nonstop options. Aer Lingus has one layover in Dublin and Norwegian usually stops in Copenhagen or Oslo.

London Gatwick Airport Information
London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is the second busiest airport in England, serving over 40 million passengers per year. It is located around 48 km from central London. The airport consists of a North Terminal and a South Terminal which are connected by a free airport shuttle. The shuttle runs 24/7 and takes only a few minutes to travel between the terminals. All British Airways flights fly into the South Terminal, and all easyJet flights fly into the North Terminal. If you decide on a flight with a layover, both Aer Lingus and Norwegian use the South Terminal.
Both London Gatwick Airport terminals have many transportation links. A taxi from the airport to central London will cost around $150 and take about an hour. Taxi kiosks are available at the North and South Terminals. Gatwick Express trains are another great option. The trains run about every 15 minutes and take between 30 and 45 minutes to travel to different parts of London. Local public transit busses also have stops at the airport. Many bus routes stop outside of the South Terminal and a few also stop at the North Terminal.
If you'd prefer to have your own transportation, various car rental companies are also available at Gatwick Airport, including Hertz, Europcar and Alamo. There are car rental service counters located at both the North and the South Terminals.
