My brother and I booked a 2 night stay here in order to catch up with family friends. I knew as soon as we walked in and were welcomed warmly by Julie that we would enjoy it!
Our room and bathroom were very clean and bed extremely comfortable. Cooked breakfasts were delicious.
Nothing was too much trouble for Julie and Brian.
There was a problem with no hot water and a plumber was supposed to have turned up the day before- but hadn’t. Brian managed to sort the immersion heater and we were able to have hot showers.
I would recommend a stay here, although due to covid, services like the cafe and dinner in the restaurant are sadly no longer available. This is beyond the owners’ control. There are plenty of places locally where you can eat.
Julie and Brian are perfect hosts and obviously work well together. Thank you both for a lovely, relaxing stay xx

Terrible rodent infested stay

Momentarily stayed here 2 weeks ago in room #3. It was late by the time I got to Reading so there was limited availability in the area. Checked in & paid with the night porter and went up to the room. Opened the door to a very basic room but I half expected that anyway. Sat down to send some emails and decided some fresh air was probably needed but the window handle was broken off. As I returned to the bed to unpack I could hear some shuffling noises, figured it was the room next door but this got louder and louder and was in the walls and under the floor boards. It then became apparent this was not shuffling but scratching of rodents. At that I packed my things and went down to the night porter and told him they had a rodent infested room. He didn’t protest or want to examine my concerns as if to note to himself that it was no surprise and this wasn’t the first time they’ve had this complaint most likely. I was informed by night porter refund would go through. I called the hotel next day to ensure this but no answer and left a voicemail and since have not received a call back or refund. Absolute disgrace. This place should be shut down and inspected by health inspectors.

Thameside Hotel

Stayed here at Thameside for three nights, absolutely loved the location and service. staff were very friendly and the hotel room as immaculate. bed sheets were fresh and made. also the bathroom was very clean and well looked after. over all really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend:)

Warm and Welcoming

Great customer service with well equipped, clean and spacious rooms, warm and welcoming stay. Cant beat the location with a 7 minute walk from the station and 10 minute walk into Reading town centre.
I will be returning when traveling to Reading in the future.

Thameside Hotel

The hotel was warm and welcoming, and comfortable. The rooms were very very clean, the bed linen was fresh, clean and crisp, the room was presented to a high professional standard.
