In the vicinity of the public sandy beach lies the hotel Barcelo Solymar. The city centre is also just a few steps away. The hotel is equipped with a 24h reception, Wi-Fi (for a fee), a lift, a shop, a jacuzzi, showers and changing rooms, parking spaces as well as a TV lounge. `Great place for a fantastic value and experiance!

I was here from March 3-19 and had a wonderful time. I've been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. I`ve been to this resort about 25 times and meet with people who have also become return guests. Plenty of food and variety. The problem with the people that complain about the food saying its the same every day is that they are eating the same everyday. They have beef, pork, chicken fish (salmon steaks), lamb pasta, soup, stews etc....I see people loading their plates with all the variety food available every day. That's not how you eat at home! It's a buffet! Have a chicken dinner one day, beef the next, pork the next and so on. They have a great variety. I've seen calamari, kebobs, hamburgers and many other varieties of delicious foods. Don't listen to the negativity, go for yourself and see. The bar staff are amazing at Arenas, Yosvany, Ansley, Alex, Jose, Hector, Iris and Esteban at the pool bar at Arenas, El Cactus. Lala and the bartenders at the Barcelo pool also welcome everyone with a smile and conversation if you feel like conversing. This is an older hotel, 25yrs, but they are constantly making improvements, repairs and upgrades. The resort is directly on the beach and no shortage of lounge chairs. You don't have to get up early to reserve. The resort has 3 pools and you get to eat and drink at two resorts. The rooms are spacious and very clean, no bugs!!!!! Remember Cuba is an island and the logistics of getting supplies to an island is sometimes an issue. Boat or plane is the only way. By the way there is moosehead beer in Cuba. Had it at the resort and also downtown. Once again, check it out yourself before relying on someone elses opinion. They would find something to complain about at a 10 star hotel...

Great times at the Bardcelo Solymar

The resort was a lot of fun and so close to the centre within a short 5 minute walk which made it great and Mayra at Las Dunas bar was always greeting us with a great smile and great drinks. This is the bar next to the small pool between the two resorts Barcelo Solymar and Arenas Blancas to which we had full access so we could hop from one pool to another in between our trips to the beautiful beach.

RUN DOWN

The hotel is so run down. Cockroaches, rude staff on late arrival pot holes in pool and all floors. Im so upset that bacelo would let this happen under thier name so not .. impressed , we moved within 24 hrs to anither hotel so dissapointing i will not return

Such a good place to go on vacation

The hotel it's placed in the best zones of Varadero , and people that work there are very kind , we got such a warm welcome from the receptionist, and you can also have access to some services from Arenas Blancas hotel if you are staying at Solymar
