Amazing cooking class

We had an amazing cooking class together with master chef Fernando. Firat he showed us the establishment which is a hostel itself. Then we went outside and he showed and explained all the different fruits and plants he grows. He even offered us to try them, so delicious.
After that we got to work. He knows Colombian food like an expert so he can prepare anything local. We went for the famous Ajiaci soup from Bogota which was super tasty.
Fernando and his wife are so friendly and it felt more like we were visiting good friends and had a cooking session with them. Muchas gracias!

Quiet, cosy.

Cosy hostel with a few clean, quiet rooms. Fernando was very helpful and made some excellent coffee for us. The common area in the hostel is very pleasant and we really enjoyed our stay in Salento. The hostel is a five minute walk to the main square and most restaurants.

Really great place to rest

It’s a great hostel, bedrooms spacious and shower was great - hot and powerful, so nice after a day hiking. Fernando was the greatest host, generous with his time and knowledge, really appreciated his hospitality. The hostel is a short walk from the main square but Salento is so small everything is easily in walking distance.

Hospitality with capital H

Fernando is the best host you can imagine. He does everything to make you feel comfortable and helps you make the most out of your visit to the lovely town and neighourhood of Salento. He can pick you up from the airport, help find great tours, be your local guide on the palm tree tour or you participate on his cooking class. The appartment is clean and well located.

FAVORITE EXPERIENCE IN COLOMBIA

I just cannot say enough about Fernando & Paula. The home was located next to a beautiful green belt and yet only 2-3 blocks away from the main town square. Such a wonderful location. YOU MUST TRY CHEF FERNANDO VELEZ’s COOKING CLASS. It was hands-down my favorite experience in Colombia. Chef Velez has a professional kitchen in the hostel and offers a 3-4 hour cooking experience. We picked numerous fruits and vegetables from his backyard garden... he was so passionate about the history of food & told beautiful stories while sharing culinary techniques. It was very hands-on, interesting, intimate, and just a beautiful experience. There was so much value, I cannot recommend this enough!! (Not to mention the beer and wine paired with a 3-4 course meal; the price was SO cheap)
I travel often. This will be one of those memories that lasts a lifetime. DO IT.
