Discover Jersey
Jersey is the largest and most developed of Britain's Channel Islands. These islands, located just off the coast of France, are self-governing Crown Dependencies of the United Kingdom. While technically not independent countries, they are, legally, administratively, and culturally, very different from the rest of the British Isles. As such, they are a unique destination in Europe and feature a colourful and ancient history. Jersey Airport is served by a surprisingly large number of airlines, making reaching the Channel Islands easier than ever before. Skyscanner's monthly search feature can help you find the cheapest flights to Jersey Airport.
Best Time to Book a Flight to Jersey
Summer is by far the best time to visit Jersey. This is when temperatures are at their warmest and the weather tends to be the driest (although rainy days still happen even during the best of seasons). During the winter, temperatures get downright chilly, the sky is overcast almost everyday, and the rain never seems to end.
Airlines that Fly to Jersey Airport
Jersey is a popular tourist destination and quite a few European airlines fly to Jersey Airport, at least in the summer. During the rest of the year passenger traffic drops dramatically leaving only a handful of airlines with regular service. If flying from the UK or Ireland you don't need a passport. If coming from elsewhere, however, you will. The following are just some of the airlines serving Jersey Airport:
- Aer Lingus
- Austrian Airlines
- British Airways
- easyJet
- Eurowings
- Flybe
- Jet2.com
- Lufthansa
What to Expect at the Airport
The Jersey Airport features a small but modern terminal that is quite easy to navigate. For getting around the island there is a public bus (Number 15) that is located outside of the Arrivals Hall. It heads to Liberation Station in St. Helier, the largest city and capital of Jersey. Electronic displays at the airport stop will let you know when the next bus is expected to arrive. Metered taxis are also located nearby. Jersey is also one of the easier places in the UK to get around by car in and you may want to rent a car for the duration of your stay.
What to See and Do in Jersey
Jersey has a number of unique historic and natural attractions. This, along with the rest of the Channel Islands, was the only part of the UK to be occupied by the Germans during World War Two. You can see reminders of that occupation at the Jersey War Tunnels, an underground bunker and later a hospital. Mont Orgueil Castle and Elizabeth Castle are also fascinating historic sites. A drive through the countryside will also reveal some nice farmland and pleasant seaside vistas. Skyscanner's hotel search tool can help you find a great place to stay anywhere on Jersey or the other Channel Islands.
