Dorm was spacious and clean. Plenty of bathrooms and showers. I arrived after reception, and I found the information for late check in was easy. Good hostel :)

Cockroaches and Rude Staff

COCKROACHES. DON'T DO IT. TRUST THE BAD REVIEWS. We checked in late, which was fine, but my room had a cockroach in it. I tried to catch it to put it outside, but it crawled behind the bed, so I stayed with my cousin in her room, and neither of us slept very well because if the cockroach is in one room, they're probably everywhere. When we went to check out in the next morning, no one was at the desk, so after waiting for several minutes, I rang the bell. The person working was clearly annoyed. I explained the situation and asked for a refund for the room I didn't stay in, and they said they weren't entitled to give a refund, and they would tell the manager, but he wouldn't be back until Friday. (This was a Saturday, so not sure why the manager was gone so long.) They then decided to gaslight me and say that they didn't think I would get a refund "just because a bug was in the room, as we can't really control that." It was a COCKROACH, not a weta, not a fly, not a random spider. I started to say that I had emailed a picture of it, and they interrupted me and said they hadn't read all the emails yet. I don't engage with rude people or gaslighters, so I left, but I was heated. I sent an email six days later on the day the manager was alleged to be back, asking for a response, and they didn't respond to me. This place was obviously gross, the staff was rude, and I don't appreciate them trying to tell me they have no control over having cockroaches. How ridiculous for a place where people stay the night. I will never stay here again and suggest you don't either.

The room we stayed in smelled of dog or cat pee. Although we thought that opening the window and door would diminish the smell, the smell did not change. During the night when the door and window were closed, the strong odour made it impossible to sleep. When I called staff the next morning to explain, staff was told that the previous person's pet was inside the room because it was pet-friendly. They apologized and we decided to stop rating the room, but it is strange that the staff did not notice the smell until we told them, and the room and kitchen are dirtier than when I stayed before, the stove is broken and we would like to see improvements, so we rate the room honestly.

Room was fine kitchen is tired electric hobs mostly broken. Toilets were not cleaned Paper towels left in toilet bin for days. The hostel has many rules for which you can be fined for not complying with . No food in room no noise after 10pm clear up and put away in the kitchen. No vaping on the step. The person who broke everyone of these rules during my stay was the chap who worked there.

180€ for NIX!!!

Had booked half a year ago through Hostelworld to see immediately after the payment that I had caught the wrong country (NZD instead of AUD), so cancelled immediately. Also let us know at the Hostel itself. The fee has been calculated and the Hostel has also deducted the full price from the credit card. NAUGHTINESS! Although I had cancelled directly half a year ago, I had to pay the full price. 180€ for NIX!!!
